Employment Provisions have been in place since 1996 where employers have had to consider making changes to the physical features of their premises. At the same time, it also came into force that treating a disabled person unfairly because of their disability, or not making reasonable adjustments was unlawful.
Since October 1999, service providers have had to consider making reasonable adjustments to their services so that disabled people can use them. In October 2004, the final part of the act came into force – service providers and employers now have to consider making permanent physical adjustments to their properties in order to accommodate disabled people.
